Bitdefender Product and Service Enablement Event Experience

​Last week, I attended the Bitdefender Product and Service Enablement Event in Kuala Lumpur. Even though the trip from Ipoh was long, it was worth it because I learned so much about cybersecurity—and even met some interesting people along the way!

A Day Full of Learning

The event started with lunch, where I got to chat with other attendees, including a Bitdefender customer I met on the train. After that, the real learning began.

The first speaker, Chua Bo Si (first picture) from Bitdefender, talked about hackers and ransomware, how they attack businesses and steal data. What surprised me most was how these threats keep changing, making old security methods less effective over time.

Then, CK Cheong (second picture) shared a real stories about companies in Malaysia that got hit by ransomware. The attack caused huge problems, lost data, downtime, and most importantly in business lost in profit. It was a strong reminder of why good cybersecurity is so important.

The Biggest Lesson: Staying One Step Ahead

Before this event, I thought cybersecurity was mostly about blocking known threats. But I learned that hackers are always finding new ways to attack, so we need smarter solutions.

One of Bitdefender’s tools, PHASR, really stood out to me. Instead of just looking for viruses, it studies how people use their computers and adjusts security based on their behaviour. This makes it much harder for hackers to succeed.

Another key takeaway? Waiting for an attack to happen is risky. Bitdefender’s team doesn’t just defend—they actively hunt for weaknesses in systems before hackers can exploit them. This proactive approach is something every company should consider.

This event taught me that cybersecurity isn’t just about software, it’s about staying alert, adapting quickly, and working together to stop threats. I’m glad I went, and I hope to join more events like this in the future. The biggest lesson? In cybersecurity, standing still means falling behind.
