When we talk about operations, support, and keeping things running smoothly here at 57Network, we often focus on the what and how of work: meeting SLAs, updating the Sales Dashboard every Monday, juggling intern recruitment, managing files, etc. But there’s another layer that’s just as powerful, the who and the wellbeing behind those tasks.

​That’s why I was excited to dive into Gallup’s research on employee wellbeing. Their findings illuminate something we already feel here: when our people thrive—not just work—they’ll carry that energy into everything they do at 57Network.

What is “Wellbeing” Anyway?

Gallup reminds us that wellbeing isn’t just about being physically healthy. It’s broader: how someone feels about their life, what they think their future will look like, and whether they’re thriving, struggling or suffering.

Gallup have defined five core elements of wellbeing:
  • Career wellbeing — “You like what you do every day.”
  • Social wellbeing — “You have meaningful friendships in your life.”
  • Financial wellbeing — “You manage your money well.”
  • Physical wellbeing — “You have the energy to get things done.”
  • Community wellbeing — “You like where you live.”

Of these, career wellbeing stands out as the foundation: helping our people find meaning, enjoy their daily work, feel supported by managers who coach rather than command.

Why It Matters for 57Network

Here at 57Network, our operations support, administrative backbone, customer communications, event-planning and more are all powered by people. So when we champion wellbeing, we’re not being “nice to have”—we’re being smart. 

Here’s how Gallup’s findings translate into our world:

  • Retention & Attraction: Gallup found that employees who feel their organization cares about their overall wellbeing are far less likely to job-hunt and more likely to recommend their workplace. For 57Network, that means when we invest in our team, give them meaningful work, growth opportunities, flexibility, and recognition. We strengthen our brand as an employer and reduce turnover.
  • Engagement + Wellbeing = High Performance: Engagement alone is powerful, but when paired with thriving wellbeing it becomes transformative. Gallup notes big jumps in productivity and big drops in stress, burnout and worry when both are present. For someone like me who manages daily admin, data-entry, and following up with customers, the quality of my work improves when I feel supported, healthy, and part of something meaningful.
  • Whole-Person Approach: Wellbeing isn’t just about “take a day off”. It’s about helping someone flourish in those five areas. Gallup says organisations need to “take care of the whole person, not just the employee.” At 57Network, we might already provide tools and workflows, but we can sharpen our focus on social connections, community-feel, financial or career support, physical wellbeing (yes, even for an operations role!), and encourage meaningful relationships inside and outside work.

So, how can we turn these insights into action—not just as a company, but as individuals, too? Let’s ask ourselves. Here are some ideas:

1. Career wellbeing spotlight: 
  • Encourage regular check-ins between employees and their managers or mentors—what’s your career vision? Where do you want to be in five years?
  • Recognise strengths, highlight what you enjoy doing (you know I love organising files and auditing assets— how can we build on that?).
  • Empower managers to act as coaches—help the team feel valued, heard, and developing, not just “doing”.

2. Social + Community connection:
  • Create moments for meaningful peer-connection (virtual or in person) where we celebrate wins, share life beyond work, chat about what’s going on with our families.
  • Consider community initiatives or volunteering that help our team feel part of something bigger than the “task list”.

3. Physical + Financial wellbeing:
  • Offer flexible schedules or encourage movement breaks (helpful especially for admin teams sitting at desks all day).
  • Share financial wellness resources or workshops—help folks manage their mop-up tasks but also their life beyond work.

4. Measuring and reflecting:
  • Use our tools (yes – Smartsheet) to keep track not only of tasks and outputs, but wellbeing indicators: are people feeling supported? Are they engaged? Are we noticing signals of strain?
  • Use simple check-ins (weekly meeting) to ask how people are doing now and how they expect to be in the future—and track “thriving” vs “struggling/suffering” categories as Gallup suggests.

Ultimately, let’s make this a shared journey--as a team and as individuals!
